CAMPING DE DUINDOORN - LOCAL AREA 

Camping on the sea, enjoying the great outdoors, sampling culture. 

The campsite is located in the dunes of IJmuiden aan Zee, and a few kilometres to the north of Zandvoort. The wonderful natural beauty of the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park  right next-door offers plenty of opportunities for cycling or hiking. 

A day at the beach is also one of the many possibilities. Build giant sandcastles with your children, participate in active water sports, stroll in the surf and breathe in the wonderful sea air, and of course go fishing on the Zuidpier or on a fishing boat. A bit further away, you can visit the marinas, the North Sea Canal or the sea locks!

You can sample the local culture on day trips to the nearby cities of Alkmaar, Amsterdam, and Haarlem, cities that offer plenty of culture and entertainment to even the most demanding holidaygoer. 

If small-scale is what you are looking for, visit the picturesque towns of Zandvoort, Bloemendaal, Oud-Velsen, Santpoort or Wijk aan Zee. There is a bus stop right next to the entrance to the campsite.

On those days that the weather is not terribly conducive to spending outdoors, you can visit the Beverwijkse Bazaar at the weekend in Beverwijk (Europe’s largest indoor weekend market).

Cyclingroutes

Camping De Duindoorn is an excellent location for people who love bicycle rides. In this multi-faceted, beautiful area, the cycle paths take you through dunes, along the coast, and through forests. The landscape is extremely varied and just perfect for a wonderful bicycle ride.

Hiking

Anyone who loves to hike will really love IJmuiden. The area around the camping is perfect for nice long walks, and you will definitely be impressed by your surroundings. Whether you prefer a stroll through the many quaint villages and cities in the area, or a more active hike through a scenic landscape, you will not be disappointed!

Fishing 

Do you enjoy fishing? If so, IJmuiden is the place for you! You can fish from the Zuidpier or go angling on a boat.
